Good to Know

Doha travel essentials

The practical details, handled before you pack.

Visa & Entry

Great news: UK citizens enter Qatar visa-free on arrival — a free 30-day stamp at immigration. Passport valid 6+ months, onward ticket, and you're through in minutes. No vaccinations required.

Best Time to Visit

November to March is the golden window — warm days, cool evenings, and every rooftop and Corniche terrace open. Avoid June–September's intense summer heat.

Money & Payments

Qatari Riyal (QAR, pegged to the dollar). The most card-friendly destination in our network — Apple Pay, cards and cash all work everywhere, from souqs to malls.

Language

Arabic is official, but English is the working language of the city — signage, malls, restaurants, taxis. Effortless for UK travellers.

Time Zone

AST (GMT+3) — 3 hours ahead of the UK, one ahead of Kigali. Land at 17:20 local, check in, and still make a 9pm Souq Waqif dinner reservation.

DOH → City Centre

Hamad International is remarkably close — just 5km from downtown, a 15–20 minute ride. One of the quickest airport-to-city runs in our network. We arrange trusted transfers.

Questions

Doha trip FAQs

Not on RwandAir — we connect through our Kigali hub, the smoothest one-stop routing at around 15h 50m fastest. Bags are checked all the way through to DOH and the Kigali connection is guaranteed on a single ticket. If speed is everything, direct Gulf carriers exist — but our fares, flexibility and 24/7 human support usually win on value.
No — this is Doha's superpower. UK passport holders receive a free visa-free entry stamp on arrival, valid for 30 days. No applications, no embassy visits, no fees. Just bring a passport valid for 6+ months and a confirmed onward ticket.
On a through-ticketed RwandAir booking you're protected: the airline rebooks you on the next available Doha flight at no cost. Both legs are the same carrier, your bags are transferred for you, and our 24/7 team monitors the connection in real time.
Economy includes 23kg checked plus 7kg cabin on every leg, with the checked bag tagged straight through to DOH. Extra allowance can be pre-booked through us at better rates than airport prices.
Qatari summers (June–September) regularly exceed 45°C — the city shifts indoors to the air-conditioned malls, museums and souqs, and life happens after dark. If you want Doha at its outdoor best, travel November to March. We're happy to advise on the best dates for your plans.
Yes — West Bay, The Pearl and Souq Waqif district hotels, plus trusted transfers for the quick 15–20 minute run from Hamad International, can all be added to your booking. For the overnight Kigali connection, we can also arrange a transit hotel with shuttle so you rest between flights.
